Art & Music (Spring 2022) - Module 3

I really like how simple yet fun your design is. I wasn't able to achieve that level of clarity in my code so I am very impressed with your work.

The artwork I created reminded me of the squiggly splashes that Pollock uses in their art. I tried my best to replicate what they did but I found mine to be more straight and robotic. Although, I do like how my artwork can have an unlimited feel to it that I am happy I achieved.

I really enjoyed watching your piece being created. The way that your script makes the turtle move around randomly and erratically was fun to watch and I also liked running Pollok Maker multiple times without clearing to see the result.

My goal for this piece was to make a Pollock inspired piece that uses a range of colors that blend together in a way that mimics how paint looks like on a canvas. After creating two different color palettes, I decided on using the first one which has galaxy/space colors. I created two different blocks that paint the piece, makeDots, and streaks. makeDots iterates through the color palatte and places dots at random locations. streaks is an evolution of make dots that iterates through the color palatte but then makes a tail pointing in a random direction that curves, decreases in width, and gradually changes color.

I was inspired to use the same color patterns as seen in lots of Pollock art, but with different shades and with greater brightness and saturation. I feel like this almost gave the art a spray painted, graffiti type of appearance and impression. I feel like decreasing the transparency also added an aesthetic piece to the overall look.

I like this one! The confetti suddenly appearing onscreen had a real startling quality to it that I enjoyed. It's like real confetti, it just suddenly bursts out at you.

Snap! Build Your Own Blocks (berkeley.edu)

This is my Week 4 assignment Pollock inspiration, I gained creativity and inspiration from his works where it looks like he just has multiple colors all over the place in a spiratic way with the colors on top of each other with different shapes and sizes. This is the reason I just went for a wild effect that brings the most pop and really grabs the viewers attention. The first thing I want the viewer to say when seeing this design is wow and then wow and then wow again.
