After a long time of designing levels, making them, and testing, I present to you: The Impossible Platformer 2
With a redesigned menu system, more natural difficulty curve, and of course, over quadruple the levels of its predecessor, I am confident in saying this is my best game ever.
Let me know if you beat it, and what your time and death count was!
In case you're curious, the first time I beat the game was 18 minutes, 14 seconds, and 86 deaths.
This is amazing! I do wish the saws didn't have fixed hitboxes though, would've saved me a ton of time. I do feel like level 17 could be nerfed just a smidge - the jumps don't feel very forgiving.
Level 17 is actually the old level 3 from the first game. It was notoriously unforgiving, being just like Getting Over It, so I had to include it, and the name was a very obvious decision. But yeah, the jumps are brutal.
Just wait until level 22...
Since I found out about this game, I haven't been able to find a good amount of time to play it, so I've had to start over from the beginning many times. (I could have started over halfway through, but I wanted to finish it in one continuous run.)
I spent more than half the time it took me to finish it on the last level. The character I was controlling was so fast that I had to lower my battery level to cause lag and slow down the character's speed. I feel like I still need to practice more.
Even so, I don't have the ability to clear the game without using cheats.
What's more, the first time I played, the battery happened to be low and that's when I discovered the cheat.
It doesn't actually seem to be a matter of the battery being low, but rather using a function that slows down the drain of the battery, such as "low power mode."
Furthermore, it seems that the appearance of Saws causes lag in the computer, which can slow down operation without any special operations.
I'm going to play the previous game now to practice!
XD I suppose that's one way to do it. I try to avoid lag, because it makes it really, really slow. And while it makes it easier to time stuff usually, it also means that if you fail, you get to watch yourself fail in slow motion XD
In my experience playing, low power mode does drastically reduce the performance.
Saws do lag a bit. Not too much, but a little more than platforms. All platforms do is reposition themselves, saws reposition, rotate, and some do stuff with cosine waves for movement. Usually it isn't an issue, though.
For practice, I suggest actually staying with the second one. The original is very short, but not much less difficult.
Results of the previous game
Time: 11 minutes 50 seconds
Deaths: 64
I struggled with all the levels from Level 3 onwards XD
The second game is about 4.5 times harder XD (individual differences)
