Summer Downtime -- July?

Hi everyone,

We'll need to take the server offline, hopefully for just a couple of hours, but possibly longer...
I'm thinking sometime in the 11PM-4AM Pacific Time in mid-July.

I'm posting this now to get feedback on any show-stopping dates, but we'd like to avoid BJC Professional Development, and the start or end of most most school seasons...

During that timeline the Snap! community would be periodically unavailable, mostly in a read-only state, and the editor and forums will we available as usual. For part of that time the editor may not be available, but the usually mirrors (like Redirecting to Snap! will still work.)

Any feedback on dates? We'll post more and add a banner once I solidify things.

There is at least one typo that's confusing me here...

I'm not using Snap! for school or anything, so I can't give feedback on showstopping dates. But I was thinking that maybe in the banner/information it should link to the instructions for offline Snap!.

Where I live, school doesn't start until August, so mid-july should be good (then again, my school doesn't use snap).

In the weekend of 18-20 July we have Turtlestitch in the Netherlands. I don't know if there will be a Snap presentation or workshop. Maybe ask @jadga what she has planned.

I think he ment to say. Will be available as usual.

ya same for me school doesn’t start till August. Butttt i do have a coding club with @henhen123 there but school ends on June 6. So I’ll think we well be fine @cycomachead. Oh and quick question why do you need to take the community site offline for a bit?

It's probably just stuff like updating the server OS, making some large changes to the backend (stuff the user doesn't see), or something like that.

Update: this might be early August.

But yes, we need to do some large maintenance like upgrading the OS and database.
