Every time I add a sound block to play a sound, I does not work. please help
What browser are you using? I'm only asking, because safari doesn't allow snap to play sounds.
oh that's why, I'm using safari
I'm showing Snap! sounds to students with various devices and browsers and did some checking.
In Oct 2024, with latest os & browsers, I'm happy to find the "play note (…)" block works on ipad safari, and imac (safari, chrome, and firefox). Might have to "stop all sounds" sometimes.
The sample dog & click sounds included in a project from Snap! forum re sound bugs do play when clicked in the "Sounds" tab on ipad safari and mac safari, chrome, and firefox.
The "play sound at (44100) Hz" block works on ipad safari and mac (safari, chrome, and firefox). BUT... the "play sound [..." without "Hz" works on mac chrome & firefox but does NOT make sound on imac safari nor ipad safari.
I find that Safari is compatible with Snap! sound, as long as you use the "play … Hz" (or "play note...") block.
Safari has some weird quirks. Sometimes it helps to click on the microphone (volume)
reporter in the sensing category once and then acknowledge that Snap is allowed to access the microphone. After that Snap (on my Apple devices and in Safari) often activates playback for sounds as well.
Isn't safari based off of Chromium nowadays? Shouldn't clicking any button or tapping on the screen allow it to play audio?
No, that's edge. Safari uses webkit, not chromium.
yeah
