(This email was sent to registered attendees and is posted publicly without Zoom links).

Hi!

We hope you enjoyed the first day of Snap!Con!. Version 9 is out, and we can't wait to see what you all will build with it! Check out the developer release notes.

Day 2 of Snap*!*Con starts today, and we have several conference logistics and reminders to share. (Apologies as well! We appreciate your patience as we worked through the technical difficulties of Day 1. Day 2 will hopefully be better! :crossed_fingers:)

We will also be releasing videos in the weeks after the conference, so don't worry if you missed something.

This email is sent only to registered attendees. If you experience trouble joining a session via the online program, links to join the meetings are included at the end of this message.

Snap!Con Program

View the conference program on snapcon.org.

We'll start the day with another round of workshops both online and in-person. After a short break, we'll continue with lightning talks and talks. Then there will be a food break and another opportunity to participate in the escape room! After the break, we'll continue with workshops that will be online, followed by another round of lightning talks and talks. Finally, we'll close the day with a keynote from Monica Rikic, who will show us how she navigates the intersection of art students and algorithms with Snap!.

Sign up for the Escape Room!

Don’t forget to sign up for the hybrid escape room happening every day through the lunch break to save the Spaceship Alonzsa23 and its passengers. Ask our staff how to enroll for the mission!, or message @bromagosa in the Snap! Forums.

TeachMeet (In-Person in Barcelona)

If you're interested in attending or presenting at the impromptu unconference TeachMeet on one of the conference evenings, please throw your name in the hat.

See you soon!

Reminders and Other Information

(New this year) Forum Chat

This year, we've enabled chatting in the Snap! forum, just for Snap!Con attendees.

If you're signed into the Snap!Forum, you should see a speech bubble in the upper right corner of the screen. There a a couple of channels "Snap!Con 2023 Auditorium" (to discuss events happening in the main room), and "Snap!Con 2023 Hallway Chat" for general discussions.

Use these chats to bridge the space between online and in-person attendees.

Note that these chats are just for people attending Snap!Con. If you already have signed into the Snap! Forum, you should have been added to the group.

Joining Snap!Con Online

Sessions noted as "online" on the Snap!Con program will be held via Zoom. Join the Zoom meeting for a session by navigating to the event on the program, and clicking the link under the presenter names, which will say "Join Event Now". Please note that you must be logged into snapcon.org to see these links.

Helpful Tip! Click on the star next to each event to build your own personal schedule. (If you don't see any stars, you'll need to sign in.)

Hallway Track Online

Throughout the entire conference (and in the hours between the days), we'll have a virtual "Hallway" track on Zoom. You will be able to join the Hallway track by navigating to the event on the program.

Snap! Forum

The Snap! Forum will be used as the discussion place for all conference announcements and user surfaced topics. Log in with your Snap! account to the Snap! Forum at forum.snap.berkeley.edu. Conference announcements will be posted on the Snap!Con 2023 category.

Sharing Your Screen

Some sessions will have interactive components for attendees to showcase what they've worked on in the session. If you need to share your screen, please check out these screen sharing instructions.

Session Recordings and Recordings Availability

Each session will be recorded and will be available after the conference. Recordings will be linked to each session on the program. If you'd like not to be recorded, we recommend you turn off your video and ask questions via the chat.

Note for Presenters

A few items to remember:

  • Review the screen share instructions above. If you have multiple speakers, they will be allowed to speak - just mute/unmute yourself.
  • During the session, you can chat with participants in the Zoom room - we recommend you post to everyone and not privately so everyone can learn from each other. For any pre or post session discussion, please use the Snap! forum post for your session.
  • You can edit your session to add materials to share with your session attendees, update your abstract, and add an event subtitle.
  • Add a profile picture to your account so your headshot can appear on the program with your event. Once you are logged into the Snap!Con website, you can edit your user profile.

We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone soon! Please feel free to reach out to conference@snapcon.org with any questions.

See you soon!
