Snap!Con 2022 Day 1 Starts Soon

Snap!Con 2022 Starts Now!

Hi everyone!

Day 1 of Snap!Con 2022 starts in less than an hour, and we have several conference logistics and reminders to share.

This email is sent only to registered attendees. If you experience trouble joining a session via the online program, links to join the meetings are included at the end of this message.

Snap!Con Program

View the conference program on snapcon.org. (Spreadsheet)

Snap!Con 2022 Collection

We'd like to add you to our Snap!Con 2022 project collection. It will be a place for all attendees to share interesting projects created during Snap!Con. Please fill out the Snap! Username Survey so we can collect your Snap! username to add you to the collection.

Snap! Forum

The Snap! Forum will be used as the discussion place for all conference announcements and user surfaced topics. Log in with your Snap! account to the Snap! Forum at forum.snap.berkeley.edu. Conference announcements will be posted on the Snap!Con 2022 category.

Birds of a Feather (BOF) Sessions

We have space for a few more Birds of a Feather sessions on Sunday. BOFs are discussions around a common interest. If you'd like to organize a BOF, simply post in the Snap!Con 2022 category in the Snap! Forum.

Proposals will be considered until Saturday night, August 6 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

Joining a Session

All sessions will be held over Zoom. Join the Zoom meeting for a session by navigating to the event on the program, and clicking the link under the presenter names called “Join Event Now”. Please note that you must be logged into snapcon.org to see these links.

Helpful Tip! Click on the star next to each event to build your personal schedule. (If you don't see any stars, you'll need to sign in.)

Hallway Track

Throughout the entire conference (and in the hours between the days), we'll have a virtual "Hallway" track using ohyay.

Click on the join event link on the 'Hallway Track' (or break) for each day. When you're in ohyay, there are rooms that you can move between. Some rooms will have just chat boxes, others will have video on.

Sharing Your Screen

Some sessions will have interactive components for attendees to showcase what they’ve worked on in the session. If you need to share your screen, please check out these screen sharing instructions.

Session Recordings & Recordings

Each session will be recorded and will be available after the conference linked to each session in the program.

If you'd like not to be recorded, we recommend you turn your video off and ask questions via the chat.

Note for Presenters

A few items to remember:

  • Review the screen share instructions above.
Each session has a volunteer host with "Volunteer" in their name. Please ask them for any help you need with Zoom.
If you have multiple speakers, they will be allowed to speak - just mute/unmute yourself.
  • During the session, you can chat with participants in the Zoom room - we recommend you are posting to everyone and not privately so everyone can learn from each other.
For any pre or post session discussion, please use the Snap! Forum post for your session.
  • You can edit your session to add materials to share with your session attendees, update your abstract, and add an event subtitle.
  • Add a profile picture to your account so your headshot can appear on the program with your event. Once you are logged into the Snap!Con website, you can edit your user profile.

Show Your Project

On Sunday, August 7, we will be hosting a session where everyone is welcome to jump on stage and show a project they've made in Snap! to the whole audience.

You'll be able to sign up for the session by submitting a new event proposal, even during the conference for last-minute work. Please keep presentations under three minutes -- and no slides! We want to see your project running. :slightly_smiling_face:

We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone very soon! Please feel free to reach out to conference@snapcon.org with any questions.

See you soon!
