No "China" in region selector

oh no :~(
why no China in region selector

Which region selector?

Hello Aaron,

What's the region selector?

Just put in "Hong Kong". Maybe that's your best bet.
But you can select "Use Current Region" though. I wonder what happens.

Those are my suggestions Aaron. So...

current region says united states

You can do this too. China is the closest to Hong Kong. See what happens.

Yes

(edit after rereading this topic:WAIT ARE YOU HECKINGLY SUGGESTING THAT HONGKONG IS NOT IN CHINA?GO AWAY!)
(when I posted this,I was replying to the "You can do this too",not the other two sentences.)

Probably because China banned Scratch.

ok ____

its because china is very very restrictive and since scratch has mostly free speech and this is a more powerful version of scratch its banned

its not. @18001767679 is proof of that

its not tho

China not being an option on the snap forums has nothing to do with it being in scratch. The snap forums is a completely different service than scratch, so saying scratch doesn't have it, so snap doesn't have it is kind of stupid. Not to mention, there are lots of things in snap that scratch doesn't have.

A service being blocked in X country does not mean that there should not be country X in the region selector.
Strangely no results come up when I search about China being excluded from the region selector. I would assume that it was removed for some strange political or legal reasons, or simply because of human error. That being said it seems like the selector uses some strange ISO code like thing so I wouldn't be surprised if they simply just forgot to include it.

I think that the problem is here:Chinese is not properly written in language list · Issue #1566 · logisim-evolution/logisim-evolution · GitHub
Bad spelling on language codes

China is restrictive though

I don't think so.What else should you do if you are seeing people saying stuff that are bad?

I believe China doesn’t ban Snap!, nor Scratch:

@18001767679 used to have a Scratch account, he lives and China and does not use a bypass or VPN. He also has been on Snap! for years, and currently lives in China, and again doesn't bypass the restrictions.

@d4s_over_dt4 is a classmate of 1800, who lives in China too, I have no idea if they use a VPN or bypass in any way but they have a Snap! account.

and yes, China does ban stuff like YouTube, Twitch, etc, and replaces them with similar sites that follow their rules.(I do understand these restrictions can be bypassed).

Fun fact: TikTok (originally Douyin), is not accessible in China (for download), and instead you must use Douyin, the original version of TikTok that is centered around China’s laws. (Also, chances are Douyin is not banned on your school device, maybe try using it, in America you can access it: douyin.com, although it is in Mandarin)
