Make the editor look more modern

The editor currently looks like Scratch 1.x pretty much, and atleast me personally I’d prefer something more modern - This is not an attack at the designers of the editor at all, just a personal preference that I think other people can probably agree with as well.

Also, this is the suggestions forum, right?

i personally don't mind the look of the snap editor interface. it works perfectly fine and i think it would be hard to completely refactor it...

You might try clicking on the settings menu (gear button), and turning on "flat design". It may be something close to what you;re looking for.

The reason it looks like scratch 1.4, is because snap was originally a mod of scratch 1.4 named BYOB. When the devs needed to move to the browser, they completely rewrote it (and named it Snap!), so now it shares no code with scratch. The big reason why the design still looks like scratch 1.4, is because the devs just like the design (and I personally like it too).

Just to be clear, if you look at snap and scratch 1.4 side by side, it is actually very different. That's because snap is darker, looks cleaner, and the blocks actually have less shading.

I personally agree with you about making the editor look more modern like Scratch 3.0, along with several other updates it could use as well.

My ideas for it is adding Scratch-exclusive features, such as updating their paint editor (e.g. adding copy/paste, reshape functions, etc.) and adding extensive blocks (e.g. text-to-speech, video sensing, etc.). I am also thinking of updating the color of the editor overall (any light color with a dark header will do because I believe it will make people feel calmer).

One more thing I would like is adding a "Share/Publish" button to the header, like Scratch. However, when clicked, a screen with the community guidelines and tips to get featured (like Tynker) will appear before sharing/publishing the project as a warning instead of sharing/publishing it instantly.

Overall, I am glad you have the same ideas I have. Let me know if you have any more ideas.
Also, I would like to give you a warm welcome to the Snap community.

I know it works in its present form, but I believe editing in the paint editor can be difficult, especially with vectors. Also, it doesn't let you copy/paste nor reshape certain parts of the costume.

You're able to share/publish projects through the editor by clicking the save as or open button to open this menu

You're right, but you'll need to do that in three clicks because it takes 2 clicks to open the open project menu. I want a more efficient way, so that's why I suggested a button on the header (or on the file menu).

three clicks? alert the devs—sounds like we’re on the verge of a national emergency.

the devs know the paint editor sucks. it's not on the top of the list right now so it'll be a while before it gets refactored. as of right now you're better off using an external svg editor like Inkscape or even the scratch paint editor

true, I guess
