Idea for color picker on snap 11.0.0-dev

My idea for the color picker is:
that’s shows Hue, Saturation and Brightness sliders and a button when clicked then the world gets darker but not the stage, when stage clicked then picks the color at mouse pointed at, after that the world is normal again

This already exists! It also works on the rest of the page, so you can also get block colours (for example).

In the current dev version of Snap! 11, you can get colours in a similar way (although not through the colour picker):

You can find the dev version of Snap! here.

I do, however, wish there was a way to get shades of grey using the colour picker palette much like in the paint editor:

But I want the

If you want know how the image comes from: is from scratch.mit.edu/projects/editor from the paint editor from the picker

Yes, I understand. I was just pointing out that you could get colours in a similar way in the dev version.

I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for, but I'm not a Snap! developer and just thought I'd let you know what was already in the making.

I repeat: The new block I described is NOT what you were looking for - I know that. However, I informed you of it in case it satisfied your need or would be able to stand in for what you want until your idea is actually implemented (assuming the developers choose to do so).

To be honest, I do agree with the sliders, since I find that to allow for more precise color picking. Plus, there can just be button to pick a color from the screen if someone wants to do that.

If this does get implemented (which, for precision, would be nice), then I would suggest that the numbers be text editable (like a setting lets you do in Turbowarp):

If we were going to have sliders like that, they should be transparent with a thin vertical hairline cursor; without that, the putative precision of sliders is sorta defeated.

I still like the 2-D hue-lightness color picker, which makes it easy to locate tints and shades, such as teal, brown, maroon, and hunter green. But Jens has suggested some time ago that he's open to providing a choice of color pickers, such as these from The Gimp:

These from Inkscape:

Or these from Freeform:

(The Spectrum one is basically our color picker rotated left 90. I especially like the Crayons. :~) )

I wouldn't hold my breath for any of these, but now that Jens has gotten excited about first class colors, who knows?

P.S. My own favorite color picker proposal:

(Note the use of the fair hue scale.)
