How do I recover a project version?

What do you do if you've lost data or have changes you want to revert?

The Snap!Cloud will automatically save 2 prior versions of a project.
Every time you save a project:

  • The immediately previous version is backed up
  • If the immediately previous version is older than 12 hours, we create a 2nd backup.

This means you have 3 copies of project:

  • Your current version
  • The most recent prior version
  • A version which is at least 12 hours old

This is done so that if you are rapidly saving your work, you have an older point in time to go back to.

To recover an older version:

  • Make sure you are in the Snap! IDE and logged into your account
  • Go the file menu and select 'Open'
  • Search for the project you'd like to recover
  • There will be a button called 'Recover'
  • Click this and you will see a new dialog box which allows you to see the two previous version,
  • Click on the date and time of the version you wan to recover
  • This will open that prior version.

Recommended: Save as a new project

  • If you'd like to not mess with the current backups, we recommend saving the recovered project as a new name.
  • Go the the file menu, select "Save As"
  • Enter any project name you wish
