Dunno for sure, but don't you think "eight hundred seventy-six" sounds more British than "eight hundred and seventy-six"? ;~)

The Numberphile video I watched on Americans who moved to England had them reversed compared to what you're describing.

Edit: How to Spell Out Numbers in Full, in "Points to Note":

Avoiding "and" when writing numbers in full is largely an American convention. Those following British writing conventions tend to use "and."

I don't know if that is right, but it's a source that says it.

I would believe it without a doubt if I went to England and heard it again and again, from many different people. As it is, I believe it's likely, but not absolutely.
