I said "shitty" in my post. I know it's against the rules. I'm sorry.

The swearing rule makes sense to me. People don't want to see f-bombs showing up on their screen 24/7, of course, and that makes complete sense! Saying things without meaning anything behind them desensitizes them and takes away any potential meaning. So I really try not to swear without meaning.

But I'm super super frustrated by seeing the same arguments and debates pop up again and again and again because people are being stupid or are trying to evade a rule or evade the spirit of the rule and say "but technically the rule says..." Or maybe they just don't know what the rule means and they should be leaving it alone or at least looking it up before they make it. Or the rule is confusing! Yet it's pretty clear that there is a complete ban on chats and arranging off-site meetings and, whatever, hiding your code from other people.

Likewise, it's so super abundantly clear that "accessing the Snap! API" is banned, yet people bring that up all the time. I'm sure that's because the rule is kind of an unclear statement, which I also think is intentional. The amount of people who actually need to use it is really, really small. Talking about it nonstop is really annoying. You shouldn't poke your nose somewhere it doesn't belong!! And yeah, I know that a bunch of the stuff around that rule was discussed because people were just fiddling around and seeing "what does this do?" but there are other places for that. The Snap! Forums API ≠ the Snap! API, by the way.

And when someone flags you, it's for a reason. If you don't know what the reason, figure it out, or ask why, and then learn from it. There is no need to make a dedicated topic, it takes up space and there probably isn't an issue.

You probably don't need to be making a topic a day, or a topic per project update (no matter how major). Just update us on your original thread. Don't hijack another one, don't bump it with some meaningless post. Make things meaningful. Swear meaningfully.

(Don't actually swear it is against the rules!!)

I am still learning things because that's how life works. Everyone is constantly learning new things. If you have a question about a rule, look up if someone had that question first.
