Are link shorteners allowed?

I know that you can't link to link shorteners on the Scratch community website due to being not easy to tell if the site is malicious or not. However, is it allowed to link to link shorteners in the Snap! website or the Snap! forum? I'm quite unsure, because I want to make Bicolink shortened links and share those Bicolink links here.

Why though...
Either way, i'm 90% sure they're allowed.

If it becomes a problem, then no, but since we haven't had any issues, then yeah, they should be allowed. Then again, I'm not the snap team, so I can't make these kind of decisions.

So are Bicolink links allowed if it links to a Snap! project in Snap!?

The only reason for using BicoLink would be that you want to earn some money. So you want to let (young) children click on ads, before going to a project. Snap! is an open source educational tool. I strongly advise against it being allowed.

For now you should just wait until there is a response from the Snap! team. There is no sense in speculating if it is allowed or not.

Why link a url shortener to a snap project on the snap forum? There's not really any reason to, especially since there's no strict post length (so you wouldn't have to worry about minimizing urls as much as posdible). Plus, if you don't want to show some long link, just use the markdown link to shorten it ([link text](https://example.com/)).

If it's to make money off of a game that's on the snap community site, that's a whole other discussion.

Yeah, no. We don't want advertising here. If you wanted to use a link shortener that just took you directly to the target site without showing advertising, then maybe -- although even those ones make money by profiling users.

Really we don't generally encourage off-site links at all, because we don't want to enable off-site private conversations. I hate that we have to worry about that, but what can I say, it's the 21st century.
