but your example is a different one, and that different one has a valid reason for not being able to quote.
It's not just links; it's any formatted text.
Formatted and unformatted text must both be highlighted to see the bug.

I'm playing around with it, and I am able to reproduce it. I found that it has something to do with links.

Try highlighting between these pairs of points:
A -> B
A -> L
B -> C
C -> D
Well, I used to be able to quote things with the links. 
in preferences under interface, there's a setting to enable quote reply for highlighted text. Check that to be able to quote by highlighting text.
She's able to quote other things (mine is also on). It's only when the highlight contains a link; try it.
oh, yeah, I can't do it either. I used to be able to, well, I could quote text for a link, like if I quoted this it would change to this (no link)
