Not transient: When you reload the project, it will have the same value it did when you last saved.
Transient: Value will be 0 upon loading every time.
It's intended for variables that contain huge lists that could put you over the 10Mb limit for saving to our cloud, and also make saving and loading slow. The hope is that your project can re-download the huge list from whatever database it came from, each time you run it.
Or, if you want to have a variable that counts how many times the flag is clicked, you could set it to transient and put a
[scratchblocks]when gf clicked
change [transient var v] by (1)[/scratchblocks]
