Video(Action) maker in Snap!

About

I made a video(action) maker in Snap! You can make videos with this project.
Make sure you turn on the JavaScript extensions!
(Also the character in the project is my main character)

Project

See the code to show how it works.

This is a neat project! Great job!

This is a great project. Nice work.

Wow, nice!

I had a little trouble figuring out how to make it work. Eventually I learned to press Enter before I started moving the figure.

I wish there were a way to move the limbs without them bending in the middle. My videos always look like a marionette rather than a person.

Maybe what this project needs is some premade examples users can examine to see how it’s done.

P.S. Oh, if the outer limbs ended in a (filled) semicircle rather than a straight line, then bending the character’s knee or elbow would look more human-like.

Sorry, but the project I sent in the beginning is in the state of work in progress; But I have to sleep because minutes ago it is my bedtime. Click on my profile picture and wait until the time right after the clock turns in the range of 8:00am ~ 8:10am; The fixing progress will begin.

But I have to sleep because minutes ago it is my bedtime.

:~)

I see there are two characters now, but I don’t see how to rotate the second one. This is a great project and I see it’s only going to get better.

I have successfully fixed the project at 8:10am. Now the project works. Also, I am in the computer science class until 11:15am.

This is a cool idea. keep it up

Waiting for an update to let you add props and objects to the video!

I was gonna interrogate why this project needed JS, but when I checked the code for exporting, I loved how it wrote the video data to the clipboard instead of just tossing clutter to my downloads folder. Even though it requires JS, I prefer it copies to my clipboard. Unlike the script pics not being copied but just being thrown into the Downloads folder. (may the devs address this pleeease?)

I’m waiting for that too

Me who gets script pics both downloaded and copied to clipboard

I think it is unable to add it by myself because it will consume too much data than that project

I understand

Yes please, and allow importing script pics/costumes/sounds from the clipboard also. My Download on my Home PC is filled with “untitled script pic (23).PNG”

We are unlikely to remove the downloading of script pics. We invented smart script pics mainly for use in documentation, such as the manual, for which we need them to be permanent files, not ephemeral clipboard entries. The best you could reasonably hope for is that we would put the pictures in the clipboard also, which wouldn’t affect your clutter problem. I have no trouble deleting the ones I only want momentarily, or renaming the ones I do want to keep. :~)

Not removing it, just providing another menu option or such, although that may clutter the UI up

Views might be different, but adding one or two more menu options doesn't seem that bad. Compare to adding 20.

We have also been using it for easy distribution to the forum. Suppose there is a newcomer asking for help with blocks we grasp but they don't, and I want to help them, all I should have to do is to construct a script and then send it to them. I don't need it stored on my computer, as I don't need to be reminded of a script I already remember.

I do. The more I visit my pigsty of my Downloads folder, the less I want to see things downloaded. Having to delete temporary files once I have sent it to where it goes is a hassle to me. If temporary files just get thrown into the clipboard, once I finished using it, it will vanish without I having to manually delete it.

Btw, I cherish the dev mode "pic" option more than the "user-friendly" options, because it just pops up a temporary window with the contents rather than downloading the pic. I use it for pics that do not have hidden metadata in it, but for script pics, unfortunately, that option does not embed the metadata.

The more I visit my pigsty of my Downloads folder, the less I want to see things downloaded.

Ah. I recommend setting your downloads folder to Desktop, rather than to Downloads. Then there’s a reminder right before your eyes that you have something to delete. :~) I do that and it works great, except for the occasional software that has “Downloads” built in and unchangeable. Turbo Tax is one iirc.

I look in my Downloads folder far more often than I ever see my Desktop. I only ever see my Desktop when my laptop reboots (which is sad because I love the photos I’ve set as my background). Of course, I know that I am not the typical laptop user… Deleting all the excess photos in the Downloads folder from time to time works fine for me.

|t used to be you could delete downloads directly from the download dialogue in Chrome, but now they’ve replaced it with a copy download link button. :~(

But I already used my Desktop for shortcuts to apps I use often.

I have seen desktops of people who save virtually everything to the Desktop folder, won't be bothered to clean it up then their desktop becomes that same pigsty but right in the front.

Obnoxious Chrome move. Another reason to change the behavior of script pics.

This is getting off-topic, so let's discuss about this in a dedicated topic!
