Since the forum is the most active place I can think of to contact, I will ask @ego-lay_atman-bay to delete these spam uploads by an IP.
Thanks for letting us know. I have deleted all the files that ip address has uploaded.
Update: They are back with an account, and spam-uploaded 100 files.
I've deleted all those files and banned them.
(sorry for ping @ego-lay_atman-bay ) Could you also block this IP, revert all their edits and delete their off-topic pages if possible? This IP was copying pages from the PenguinMod Wiki, most of which are unfit for ours or unrelated.
I don't know what's happening but why won't this wiki be left alone from vandalism?
This one is a little trickier to deal with, since a number of pages were also edited. I can mass delete pages made by a user, but that does not include any edits to existing pages they made. From what it looks like, doing this requires an extension or some script, which is not added by default, so @r4356th , the wiki owner, might have to deal with this instead of me.
Okay, I have added two new filters over the last 24 hours (sigh) that block all PDF uploads by new users (who are then blocked, too) and edits that try to add '<infobox>' to any page. The tag is provided by an extension that is not enabled on our wiki so it should not affect legitimate contributions but if it does then a message should tell the user to contact wiki admins.
It is not clear to me what the 'Penguin mod people' are trying to do considering they have their own wiki on Miraheze (and another one on Fandom as well, apparently) but if this continues I may try escalating this with global Miraheze admins.
But we don't have a 'wiki owner'! We only have admins.
I started the wiki but it belongs to all of us.
I'm pretty sure the person doing this is not affiliated with PenguinMod, but instead some kid who thinks they know what they're doing (or just some spammer who's only intention is to ruin other wikis with unrelated content). I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same person who uploaded all those pdfs.
Yeah, you're right.
That spammer was trying to advertise their business though. I blocked another person (or maybe it was the same one) last week for trying to improve their business' ranking on search results.
Oh huh
I'm sure that once the pages are deleted, only edits will be shown on the user's contributions history. I checked one of the recently blocked user's contributions (which supposedly only consists of image uploads) before and nothing was shown.
I'll be honest, I looked at the first contribution this user user did, and it was an edit, so I assumed a lot of pages were replaced.
the guys pingable unlike the delta airlines dude, he's kinda laggy (900 ms spikes!)
Who’s life is genuinely so unfulfilling that they have to vandalise a small block coding website’s even smaller unofficial wiki to feel enjoyment?
Why are random IPs trying to sabotage this wiki more often? This one changed example.com to a Snapchat URL.
The IP who transferred pages from PenguinMod to Snap! is back. The IP also uploaded an image that I'm not sure what it is meant to be.
Yeah, I noticed that. It has been taken care of for the time being. I have also restricted page creation for two particular pages they seem to love creating for a year.
i use penguinmod and i have no idea who is doing this
Could someone investigate this user?
Most if not all of their edits are non-Snap! related.
