Split! - Snap! but Scratch (Part 2)

It might be theoretically possible to add extensions like the TTS one (yes i know there’s already one in snap don’t worry) or the physical extensions (microbit, ev3, makey makey…)

but for now we’ll just continue the UI. (If you want to make these extensions, go ahead!)

This is a forum, not an instant messaging service.

Why? the snap ones are literally just better . more advanced, which is the goal of snap.

v1.5.3 is here!
Not too much to see here, but:

The menu text is slightly bigger and the checkmarks are as (almost) good as new!

@codingisfun2831t how are the fixes going?

What do you mean by “fixes”? I mean, I do have a couple updates on my repo that I probably should make a pull request on, but what do you mean?

Anyway I have created a PR for my current changes (advanced submenu, and cloud menu fixing if we ever get a cloud server): the like tenth pull request ive made by ilikecoding-197 · Pull Request #10 · e016/split-mod · GitHub

By “fixes” I was talking about your updates. I’ll merge the PR now

Time for everyones favorite gameshow, THE COMPARISION!

Today, we have the first release of Split! (this commit:

And now, the latest version of Split! (from my commits!)

Oh, how we have grown…

Oh, I see. Well good thing I made that pull request!

Why is this so funny-

Yes!! Also,

How is a clicking sound option “advanced”?

I just put every checkbox in there, didn’t really look over it. Ill fix that along with some other random small tweaks.

I’ve tried to fix the tabs up multiple times but I give up every time. I’m not the best UI guy, but I’m the only one that does it. Oh well, doesn’t need to be perfect.

I think I can do that for now.

Thanks a lot for your support, though.

Got it! Your welcome. Currently working on fixing up the sprite bar. 100 more replies and this topic will be split again.. Guess it really lives up to its name.

Question: Will I be able to remove the draggable button and instead (what we should have probably done from the start) change it to Scratch’s block for it?

yes. Don’t add the block as a primitive, though. Instead; make it as a library

(maybe you can even load the library by default :~P )

I dont really see the point behind this? Scratch has the block, we’re making Snap! like Scratch, shouldn’t the block be there by default?

yeah but then this could happen:

TL;DR: I want the mod to be fully compatible with :snap:

Ohh. Well, after I finish up the sprite bar, I’ll make a library that gets auto loaded at startup. My only worry is that it wont be in the normal palette (which is what people expect). Perhaps we could add a way to convert Scratch primitives into custom block defs on export? Of course that’ll be complicated, but it could work. And also one more thing, custom blocks currently go to My Blocks. Its a bit weird to have a bunch of blocks in my blocks.

We could also add a disclaimer when Split! boots up saying that “oh, the blocks from Scratch that arent in Snap! wont work in Snap!”, and of course have a option to skip that if you dont need it.

Drag this to split:

What’s the point of this block?

This doesn’t have anything to do with Split!, it’s just made in split. How would this be helpful in Split??? You can just use the normal switch to costume block.
