Snap! does not load in Internet Explorer or Chrome

When Launching the version of Snap! 12.0.6 in Internet Explorer or Chrome, Snap! html loads but with a white page, and errors on the page. This is on my old windows laptop, it works fine on my Mac.

When Trying to open the online version (snap.berkely.edu) this happens. Chrome loads the community site fine but when you go into the Snap! editor it has a blank screen.

The computer OS/browers are too old to run modern Snap!

Internet explorer is dead, and pretty much no website goes out of their way to support it anymore. The issue with chrome is just that you’re running an olf outdated version, and you need to update.

I tried to update Chrome a while ago, but it threw an error. So I downloaded a new version, but the installer failed.

That’s what I was afraid of. The computer itself is ANCIENT. It originally ran win xp, so I updated to win 7. I didn’t try win 10 (for obvious reasons)

you might be able to install another os, but make sure to backup your files
you might also be able to try supermium but scan it before running

Then that’s your problem. Modern browsers don’t support win 7 anymore. This could be going a little out of scope for this forum, but you could try usibg CoreAPI, which allows you to run modern programs on older windows versions, like win 7. However, if you want to breathe life into this computer, you may want to instead look into installing linux, because you can run up to date versions on older hardware, and there’s distros specifically designed for older hardware. You might want try @askofep1’s suggestion before trying CoreAPI thtough.

I don’t think I will change the OS, the reason I hold on to it is to run those windows only applications.

It not being able to run Snap! is a minor inconvenience that I can deal with. I never browse the internet on it for the reason @ego-lay_atman-bay stated
