Robotics and programming for education 2025

From Wednesday, 7 May 2025 to Wednesday, 14 May 2025

For the eighth year in a row, a passionate group of teachers, designers and creators of educational tools from all over the world will meet at Faberllull Olot to promote creative learning experiences in programming and robotics for education based on STEAM and Maker projects.

Many of the participants have already worked together this year, connecting remotely from their countries, and meeting in person at Faberllull will help them move forward and share their projects. Over this week, they will re-think the teaching and purpose of computer sciences, connecting the virtual and physical worlds to better integrate the maker tools they already use (Snap!, Microblocks, Snap4Arduino, TurtleStitch, etc.) and reflect on the challenges of computer-science education in the era of artificial intelligence.

The reflections from this residency will be shared at Robolot 2025, in the STEAMakers projects fair on Friday 9 May and the programming and robotics innovation conference on Saturday 10 May.

STEAM projects contribute globalised learning that encourages research, dialogue and critical thinking. Maker culture is about being curious, imaginative, committed, persistent, optimistic, taking risks, searching for resources and sharing them.

... including all of the Snap! team. :~)

It will be my first time visiting Olot.

Cool logo! Dan will love it. :~)

Off-Topic:
Made with ChatGPT, so not my work.

We, the MicroBlocks team including @bromagosa, are visiting our friends from Citilab. Citilab is a digital lab for citizen innovation in Cornellà de Llobregat, Catalonia, Spain. It mixes citizen based innovation with research, entrepreneurship and training. Its rationale is to offer a resource platform for citizens so that they can start their own projects around technology and the internet, specially the collaborative and audiovisual internet.

Pictures from yesterday visiting Citilab and pictures from today where we had lunch together.

We are not only eating

Looks really fun there! Have a great time guys, and stay safe.

Dan, Jens and Jadga doing a demo. This was really cool. The picture shows just one of the parts of what they showed to the audience.

We are mainly at risk of overeating.

Live coding during Robolot with MicroBlocks and Snap! performing together. It starts simple and then it grows.

I find it funny how at around 2:12:00 in the video it just zooms out and you see that little robot bouncing around while the music is playing

That's my XGO Rider partying.

yummy computers

maybe in your country, but not in the Free World (tm)

School extension. You would be surprised about how many YouTube videos are blocks for.. "Educational"
I'll just watch it at home

Ah, bummer! Anyway, you probably know everything we're showing at this conference already...
