Making a project without using the "variables" section

um I don't think you need a variable at all for that in any way, I can't think of a reason why you do need to use one.

For clone IDs for the different note keys, if you don't want to create multiple sprites.

Well, that project was too simple (no offense kingnico1133). The challenge really kicks in for bigger projects. I will probably now do what cycomachead suggested:

What'd I'd suggest: Take an existing project on the community site and remix it to not use any of X / Y / Z functions.

I'd say:

• First no global variables
• Second no script or local variables
• then no lists
