Is there ever going to be saveable storage capabilities?

I was wondering if there is/ever will be a feature that allows for permanent storage or saving. Like blocks that do things like append to storage, remove an item from storage, clear the storage, etc.

There is the database extension but that one only saves data to the browser on your specific device
