Converting frequency into color

Hi,
I`m trying to implement this project of Jens Möning: youtu.be/C76X0pf_bOI

But it doesn't work. I get different colors. It seems, there is a problem with my mic? I'm working on an MacBook M4 and I can choose between "normal, voice, sensitiv(?)" - I'm from Germany, so I don't know the correct english words in OSX. And I think, I shoud change the calculation with 700 and 20 in order to get a better colordistribution. But I don't know how. Any ideas?
