I accidentally stopped the 3rd block halfway through, and this happened:

That happens when you are in dev mode. Just click ‘OK’
No, dev mode is what you get by shift-clicking the Snap! logo and choosing “Switch to dev mode” from the menu.
The dev version is what you get by going to URL https://snap.berkeley.edu/versions/dev/snap.html
instead of
https://snap.berkeley.edu/run
That’s what shows you that startup screen.

Dev mode has features that have been in Snap! from the beginning, but are meant for developers rather than users. The main one is access to the Morphic controls for all the visual elements on the screen.
The dev version, by contrast, has features that Jens has just implemented, and isn’t committed to keeping in the next official Snap! release, but are generally intended for users, not only for developers.
dev mode = developer mode
dev version = development version
