On the partners page, the link to BeetleBlocks is broken because their web domain no longer belongs to them. The link should either be removed or replaced with an archive.
Hi, thanks for pointing that out. @bromagosa is in charge both of BeetleBlocks and of that partners page, so I’ll poke him about it. :~)
done! ![]()
I just discovered yesterday that the original Beetle Blocks URL, which should instead display a message about that Beetle Blocks project data has been lost (nowadays found at Snap! Build Your Own Blocks) has been replaced with a gambling site. So yeah.
and there’s many paragraphs of AI slop writing at the bottom. I think the devs should remove all mentions of the site.
This character is to 3D what the Lego turtle is to 2D
@bromagosa Did you mean the Logo turtle?
yep, of course I did ![]()
The BeetleBlocks domain was paid by me personally, and this time around they were asking for an abhorrent amount of money just to have a landing page saying “sorry, what you’re looking for isn’t here anymore”, so I decided it was time to stop paying for yet another domain.
Hopefully no one will end up falling into gambling because of my stinginess…
Should have cancelled the renewal and then registered the domain with another registrar
You should probably just file a suit with ICANN to remove the domain. It might cost thousands but will prevent the stupid gambling site from stealing a once educational domain (which should be illegal)
Offtopic but my A key is starting to break, expect me to say “Snp!” more
i agree
ok mpelectecuted
The future
You should probbly just file a suit with ICNN to remove the domin. It might cost thousnds but will prevent the stupid gmbling site from steling a once eductionl domin (which should be illegl)
Guys, the domain was basically just saying “beetleblocks is now in snap”, there’s literally no reason for him to try and get it back, either with a different registrar or file a lawsuit. It’s literally not worth it. From what I gather, he just decided to give up the domain because of costs, not someone stealing it.
but maybe remove the link from the snap website?
Oh I thought Bernat did that! I’ll poke him again. (Also the typo about Lego instead of Logo is still there.)
Yeah, I just checked and it looks like the link has been removed everywhere. Any link to beetleblocks was either removed or points to https://snap.berkeley.edu/beetle
The issue is the link on /beetle itself ![]()
Ooh, I didn’t realize that
Guys and girls the stupid gambling website that got into [redacted so people don’t use it] is down (At least for me). I went on Google safety report thingie and it said “status unavailable”. is the gambling website done? (everyone don’t gamble on this please if its still there for you)
EDIT: I put a typo in the safety report thingie making it say “status unavailable” so my bad.
And? Most kids who find that site expecting a block based programming language and instead getting a gambling site are less likely to stay on the website. Plus, I am fairly certain modt kids don’t have access to a credit card, so they wouldn’t really be able to make any online puchases. It’s really not as big if a deal as you think it is if the link is just removed from the snap website.
