Art & Music - Module 5 (Fall 2022)

My project uses a simple motif that is split into two parts, an "introduction" with a curtain opening, followed by the "main" part which uses math in a for loop to draw a line. The math uses the mod of the index along with "flip exponents," like (-1)^n, which means that every n value will flip the output. This allowed me to make an equation in which the input matches with the music based on the number of notes that have played.

Here's the link to my project again. I made the frogs hop along to the music using the glide block that we used in class. Now, instead of appearing in their place, the frogs hop to it while their motif plays. I also made them hop up and down at the end while they are celebrating and I took out some of the longer pauses between speech and music.

I was really intrigued by the way you chose to synchronize your visual piece with the music. Rather than just following the way it was done in class, I was interested in the mathematical approach you took. It was really interesting to see your code and really shows you have a good understanding. I also think the curtain opening is a nice touch!

For my week 7 assignment, I updated the code so that each note of my motif corresponds with a change in the stick figure's dance movement and a change in the background's color. I also added a stage and a disco ball to create a better dancing scene. Lastly, I updated my motif to be longer and more upbeat so the corresponding change in the background color and dance movement would be faster and more frequent to create a cleaner animation.

Matching the frogs hops to the music makes the animation look a lot cleaner. Good job! I also really enjoy all the different motifs you created for each character. The music and the story fits so well together. Too cute!

My goal for this assignment was to be a little festive for Halloween. I wanted the characters to match the music that was originally made.

I really like how the animation progressed overtime. It was amazing to see the disco ball drop down after and watching the dancing.

For this week, I updated the code so that Kanye is synchronized to the piano notes of Runaway. However, in doing so, I lost the original "flair" of my first rendition of the project. I struggled to figure out how to code him so that he hops backwards on every 4th note and couldn't figure out how to make him have his final big jump off of the piano on the last note.

The changes you added made the overall project even cuter! The synchronization to the music made it look a lot smoother, and I like the addition of the bear peaking in at the end.

This is the updated version of my last assignment. I added a pacman! For the first time running it, sometimes the pirate is idle, so press the red stop button and then the green flag!

I really like this piece! The hand movement of the stick figure was pretty cool!

I added synchronization with the music for the entrance on both characters.

This is my week 7 assignment, and my notes are in the project notes.

You already had me hooked with the original product but adding synchronized movement to the piece just pulled it all together. I really enjoyed the X wing spinning because it went really well to the Star Wars theme and ended pointed at the rider which was cool.

I think this was amazing and I love the creativity

Here is my assignment 7, when Gary uses his violin that is when he starts to spin and I changed the song to over the rainbow with a violin beat in the middle to break each section of the song up.
