I think your project looks really interesting! I also tried to randomize the directions of the lines (similar to the Van Gogh painting) but found that it looked more spike-y than fluid but nevertheless interesting. I think it could also be interesting if the direction was only sometimes randomized and have the brush move in sections rather than completely random to keep areas of the picture have the same direction and other areas in a different direction!
I really like your project and I like how you used the pen strokes instead of dots it definitely gives it an impressionist vibe. I think it was a really creative approach and I think the photo you chose for it is really good for accomplishing the effect you wanted.
My updated impressionist painting utilizes the same process of reflecting color as small dots on a picture of the rotunda at sunset. However, I changed some aspects of the project by increasing the size of the pen and adjusting the number of repeats. Doing this changed the look by reducing the amount of white space, but creating a more blurred look. I thought that this better reflected the idea of impressionism.
Here is my revised project. I adjusted the number of dots to avoid the white spaces in my painting as well.
This painting is so interesting because after the dotting process, there are some white spaces left behind yet it looks like snow due to the picture you picked!
This is my revised impressionist painting. I increased the number of dots that were being repeated and increased the pen size as well which resulted in much less white space in my picture.
This is a really cool picture! I like how the end result makes the picture look blurred!
I think your choice to use lines to recreate the image rather than dots does it justice, as it gives it a more cozy feeling overall. Moreover, the blurriness of the image reminds me of that sensation when you first wake up and your eyes haven't adjusted to light yet, so everything's somewhat foggy. I think that's a pretty appropriate association for a photo of a cat in a blanket!
I decided to create an additional function in my project that only shifts the blue colors; I then used this function to create my revised impressionist painting, which shifts all blue colors by 40 to create a warm-toned sky, somewhat akin to how the sky looks when the sun sets. I also halved the number of dots created to make the project load faster.
Hey thank you for appreciating my project! I tried random lines and constrained random lines but I think they worked worse and I have to use a shorter line and pen size which makes it more like a photo but not a painting-ish thing.
